Ed's love for jazz and art is also reflected in his son, Ron Baxter. At an early age, Ron listened to his father's albums like Miles Davis, Coltrane, Rollins, Brubeck, and many others, but found becoming a musician was a way of expressing his shared love of Jazz.
For the first time, father and son are poised to present their art forms together. Though Ed's art is visual and Ron's is music, they see themselves as equals on their quest to honor both art and jazz music.
Ron Baxter's started his career as Director of Bands at Goldsboro High School and an orginal member of the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra. He has performed at many North Carolina Festivals, such as Bimbe, Grady Tate, Wake Forest, Thelonious Monk, Cary Wine Festival, Carrboro Arts Festival and others. He has also performed throughout Chicago, the Mid-West, the Chicago African Arts Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival and internationally at the Lima-Peru Jazz Festival.
Ron holds a Music Education Degree, Jazz Studies Degree and a Masters in Jazz. His debut CD; Ron Baxter 4TeT Live @ Java 101 was released in January 2007 and can be heard on WSHA 88.9 FM.
